Code of Conduct

At Athena School of Arms, we pride ourselves in offering an open, welcoming environment to everyone. We are committed to the inclusion and recognition of all students regardless of race, age, culture, ability, ethnicity or nationality, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, marital status, religious affiliation, veteran and socioeconomic status. We respect that our membership reflects a variety of perspectives and a wide range of lived experiences, and we believe that this diversity is of great value to our school.

Athena has zero tolerance for discrimination or harassment of any kind. This includes, but is not limited to, sexual harassment, racism, homophobia, transphobia and bullying. We expect members to respect their training partners and other members of our community, including other groups who share our training space, and to avoid insulting, belittling or demeaning others.

We strive to train safely and in a way that minimizes injury. Martial arts practice has inherent risks and we are responsible for the safety of our training partners. Members should exercise control when training or sparring, and communicate with partners about expected levels of force and intensity.

This policy applies to all interactions with other club members and our larger community. That includes training at the club, events where you are representing the club, and interactions on the club mailing list, Discord, or social media. Failure to follow this policy may result in removal from class, temporary or permanent ban from the Discord server, or temporary or permanent suspension of membership.

Should you have any concerns or questions, please contact any of the board members in person or through email: board @ athenaschoolofarms dot org.
